UPDATES FROM ONAR

A world taking shape.

The latest changes, the little refinements, and everything that makes the next adventure better.

Latest update

Room to roam.

More natural wildlife spacing, steadier distant foliage and a tidier world to explore.

A more natural world

  • Ordinary wildlife has more space between its home areas across Sap’Sala, Nifar and the Northern Heartlands. Roaming avoids towns and camp services, including the goat that had wandered into Lanternroot’s cottages. Early quest creatures remain within a short walk of the village gate.
  • Creature turning and walking now follow the same smooth timeline as their movement. Animals stop walking when obstructed and finish moving before settling into feeding or resting poses. These presentation improvements also apply inside the Rootbound Vault.
  • Foliage transitions use a stable pattern and distant wind settles down, reducing the distracting sparkle around treetops. Falling leaves are disabled while their artwork is being improved; evening fireflies remain.
  • Gathering sites now use logs, plants, mushrooms and rocks from our nature artwork instead of primitive stand-ins. The floating logging marker beside the Lanternroot cottage has been moved outside the village.

Tools for the alpha

  • Authorized Gamemasters can search and add items, teleport to outdoor destinations, change their current job’s level and restore their character from the game menu. Permissions are held by verified accounts on the server, and changes are saved and recorded.
  • This remains an early alpha. First visits still require asset preparation, and performance varies with device, graphics settings and scene density.

A world worth wandering.

Larger starting landscapes, a new Heartlands journey, and richer scenery from the forest canopy to the Rootbound Vault.

Beyond the starting roads

  • The Northern Heartlands opens a new journey from level 18, with the Crossroads town, river valleys, foothills and quests leading toward level 30. Travel there by caravan from Sap’Sala or Nifar, and return through the Crossroads caravan service.
  • Sap’Sala and Nifar have larger landscapes with newly sculpted terrain. Established quests, services and travel routes remain in place, and existing characters keep their progress.
  • Nifar’s eight mesas have newly shaped sandstone cliffs, weathered summits, broken ledges and fallen rocks. Broad plains remain open between the landmarks.

Light, life and weather

  • Sap’Sala’s giant trees, woodland undergrowth and riverbanks use richer natural artwork. Nifar gains riverside groves and more varied planting, while the Heartlands combines meadow, woodland and rocky uplands.
  • Outdoor lighting responds to the canopy, terrain and shelter, with moving cloud shade, softer leaf lighting and low mist. Town lights stay warm after sunset, and Crossroads has a new low stone-and-timber boundary with open road entrances.
  • Ground materials blend continuously across the landscape. The Rootbound Vault shares that treatment for worn paving, with more varied damp patches, restrained reflections and lighting that respects its walls and cover.

Still an early alpha

  • Terrain and rock collision are shared by the game and server. The update preserves separate zones and instances, with bounded foliage detail and lighting costs.
  • First visits can still take time while scenery and shaders prepare. Dense forests and crowded scenes can run more slowly in compatibility mode; loading speed and performance remain active work. This release does not promise 60 FPS on every device.

A clearer welcome. A living realm.

A simpler website to find your next adventure, with real player activity from the alpha server.

Find your way into Onar

  • The homepage has clearer wording, consistent Play free links and a simpler introduction to the world, jobs and group adventures. The guide, updates and realm status are easy to reach on desktop and phone.
  • Players online shows connected adventurers across every outdoor zone and dungeon. The last-24-hours peak shows the highest recorded concurrent population, with saved history that survives normal server restarts.
  • Counts refresh every 15 seconds while the page is visible. Reconnecting sessions, character-selection screens and website visitors are excluded. Maintenance, unavailable data and partial history are labelled clearly. Only aggregate numbers are public.

Better loot. Easier company.

A new way to collect your spoils, clearer party controls, and a quieter interface when you travel alone.

Collect what you earned

  • Right-click a defeated creature or its gold loot marker to open the loot window. E also opens nearby loot. Take individual items or choose Loot all; hover over equipment to inspect it and hold Shift to compare.
  • Prefer fewer clicks? Enable Auto loot in settings. Holding Shift reverses that preference for a single interaction.
  • Party drops now come from one shared pool, and coins are divided between eligible members. Nearby healers and support players can qualify without dealing damage. Quest kill credit remains personal.

Share the spoils fairly

  • Group Loot is the default: ordinary items rotate between members, while better items use Need, Greed or Pass. Need is for equipment your current job and level can use; each roll gives you 60 seconds to choose.
  • Party leaders can choose Group Loot, Round Robin, Free for All or Master Looter, with an Uncommon, Rare or Epic quality threshold. Changes apply to new encounters, and every member can see the rule.
  • Dungeon boss equipment uses the shared loot system; first-clear reward choices remain personal. Won or assigned items left uncollected are recovered through your mailbox after the loot expires. Ordinary abandoned items and coins still expire.
  • Loot rights are protected once an encounter begins. Removing someone from the party cannot take away their earned claim, and saved claims prevent duplicate rewards.

Meet, invite and keep in touch

  • Right-click another player or their nameplate to invite them, inspect their equipment or whisper. Invitations can be cancelled, and party controls make leadership and membership easier to manage.
  • The party frame stays hidden until you join an actual party. Player names are easier to select, windows use clearer wording, and inspection reuses the familiar equipment comparison.
  • Chat keeps drafts and history, with whisper tabs and clearer unread messages. Log out returns you to character selection after saving; signing out of your account is a separate choice.

The website caught up, too

  • The Game Guide reflects shared dungeon loot, and this page now brings the recent releases and earlier alpha additions together. Future releases will include their player-facing notes here.

Water with a little more life.

Sap’Sala’s rivers and falls have a more natural sense of movement and depth.

Along the river

  • Flowing surface detail, clearer shallows and ripples around your feet bring movement to the water. Falling-water strands and restrained mist soften waterfall landings.
  • The first crossing and river bend have softer banks, wet ground and small shoreline stones. Elderwater shares the new water treatment; the detailed bank work is a focused study, not a claim that every shoreline has been rebuilt.
  • The effect reuses the existing sky lighting and bounded effects, with checks in daylight, rain and at night on both supported renderers.

A guide for the road ahead.

Plan your next adventure from your desktop or phone, without signing in.

Find your next upgrade

  • Browse and search the item database, compare equipment, and check known sources and requirements. Each of the eight jobs has a progression page covering abilities, spells, traits and weapon skills.
  • Explore independently trained support-job combinations, skillchains and magic bursts. Profession pages and recipe ingredient lists help you plan a crafting session.
  • The guide distinguishes level, proficiency, scroll and quest requirements, and marks content whose availability has not been verified. Discovery recipe details stay hidden until you choose to reveal them.

More room to adventure.

Online play gained smoother feedback, better session controls and more room across zones and instances.

A steadier online experience

  • Casting and cooldown indicators update smoothly between server messages, while creature movement and attack warnings follow the server clock.
  • The Escape menu shows connection latency and provides settings, a saved return to character selection and account sign-out.
  • The realm admission limit is 500 concurrent players across zones and instances. Collision processing, network visibility, reconnects and saving were improved and checked with 500 connected test clients. Dense-crowd browser performance is still being improved; this is not a guarantee of 60 FPS on every device.

ALREADY IN THE ALPHA

The journey so far.

Highlights from earlier development, collected here as a starting point. These are part of the current alpha, rather than a new release today.

Two starting lands, a larger adventure
  • Sap’Sala has grown into a 1.5 km forest region around Lanternroot: giant trees, five outer districts, furnished camps and a main quest path through level 20. Huntable neutral goats, discoveries and optional fieldwork add reasons to wander.
  • Nifar offers towering mesas, open plains, Sunstep village, a river valley and its own opening quests. Choose either starting land during character creation, or travel between them by caravan. Rivket remains Coming soon.
The Rootbound Vault
  • The first private dungeon is a level 15–18 expedition designed for four to six players. Three roaming guardians, cover, charges and interruptible channels reward a coordinated group, with checkpoints, rare equipment and a crafting discovery.
  • Solo entry at level 15+ is available for alpha testing; the encounters retain their group difficulty. Dungeon combat animations, Resonance actions, camera obstruction and exit guidance have received fixes.
Your character, your jobs
  • Create a Humani adventurer with body, hair and color choices, realm and starting-land selection, and an animated preview wearing real starter equipment. Zone-specific loading screens cover asset preparation.
  • Warrior, Paladin, Monk, Thief, Ranger, White Mage, Black Mage and Red Mage each keep independent level progression through 30. Learned scrolls, weapon and magic proficiency, job trials, skillchains and magic bursts give you different ways to grow.
  • The Second Path trial at level 30 unlocks support jobs, using levels you have earned in those jobs. Equipment fitting and weapon animations have been improved across both bodies, in combat and while sheathed.
Craft, trade and make it your own
  • Professions, gathering, crystal-based synthesis, quality results and material storage form the crafting foundation. Search recipes, plan ingredients and work toward useful equipment and consumables.
  • Main settlements provide a global auction market and personal mail. Searchable auction and mail windows, clearer trade reviews, equipment comparisons, compact favorites and item protections make belongings easier to manage.
  • Character equipment uses sixteen slots, and currency is shown as gold, silver and copper. Right-click equipment actions and a rotatable, zoomable character preview make upgrades easier to try.
A world that moves around you
  • A shared day and night cycle moves the sun and shadows, with moonlight, stars, clouds, mist and gentle rain. Wind, wet ground, fireflies, bird flocks and ambient audio help each setting feel alive.
  • Continuous ground textures, curved grass, softer canopy lighting and richer bark, rock and dungeon surfaces improve the environments. Settlement lighting and foliage edges have also been corrected for night scenes.
  • Lanternroot has larger furnished homes, a workshop, paths and a perimeter fence. Residents walk, pause and work near their usual locations, while small forest activities provide optional moments to join in.
A clearer first hour, better everyday controls
  • New adventurers begin with one clear core quest, readable objectives and reward previews, plus quest and level-up sounds. The action bar, tooltips, equipment icons and combat effects have been refined for readability.
  • Map zoom, service filters, personal waypoints and guidance to known objectives help you find your way without exposing undiscovered secrets. Parties can share pings, mark targets, run ready checks and see healing-range indicators.
  • Remappable controls, UI and text sizing, sound and graphics settings, gentler combat effects and recovery improvements offer more control over the experience. Online characters are saved to your verified email account.
